I have old laptop 4-5 years old i have tested and installed multiple linux distro on it and here i will list down my top 5 best linux distro

I use my laptop on daily basis for video streaming , coding , attending lectures/meetings , using git and and using tech stack like MERN stack for web development also this is for amd and intel processors i dont know about nvidia never tried it on an nvidia driver before

So here are my top 5 linux distro

5.) Zorin os

Pros:

1.Great user inteface if u ask a zorin user whats the best pro for using zorin this will be the first thing they will say

2.Good responsivness and looks professional system wised dark mode is incredible

Cons:

1.Out of the box zorin os is great but if u need more customization and change something it might break something so be prepared with backup and to get your hand dirty

2.App center is slow sometimes and sluggish

4.) Ubuntu

Pros:

1.Pretty stable no system breaking changes

2.Most popular in linux distros and has more users

3.The team behind ubuntu is doing great job keeping ubuntu maintained easy to install easy to use everythings pretty normal and stable

Cons:

1.Higher requirements of ram and cpu and heats pc when doing intensive task

2.Not so great user interface

3.Slower and heavier than linux mint

3.) Linux mint

Linux mint has three flavours cinnamon, xfce, mate in which i have used cinnamon and xfce

both are good xfce is more responsive than cinnamon

This is how linux mint cinnamon looks

Pros:
1.Good choice of preinstalled software
2.The rounded corners looks good and look and feel is similar to windows used good for newbies
3.pretty stable liked the cinnamon de better in some ways then gnome

Cons:
1.It had some bluetooth problems before they might have fixed it but it was real irritaing while connecting headphones
2.has many bugs in frontend part i personally have reported one on github regarding terminal duplicating same stuuf after maximizing and minizing again under some condtions

Good for newbies was my first distro but not perfect need improvements

2.) Pop Os!

Pros:

1. The look and feel is amazing user inteface is great

2.Pretty stable and system 76 the team behind pop os is working great for pop os

3. Pop shop has almost all softwares steam , vscode , telegram ,vlc from official repos not flaptak or snap versions they are maintaing there own software repos

4.The launcher that launches by key super key+/ is great to do any tasks such as opening and application some calculations similar to mac os

5. Good choices of wallpaper provided

Cons:

1. Not good for old systems doesnt lags and is responsive but heats cpu too much

Now lets move to my favourtite distro by far

1.) Fedora

Pros:
1. Most stable through my personal experience and bleeding edge i.e updates recieved are recent versions not old if u are normal user then its pretty safe

2. Vulnerabilites are patched pretty quickly i mean founder of linux mr. linus torvalds contributes himself to this and also it is backed by the famous redhat.

3. Never had any problem never experienced crashes never had any freezing issues everythings awesome so far

4. It is designed for developers

5. Pretty good for gaming as well have played some steam games and xonotic from fedora appstore

6. Doesnt heat the cpu or hdd/ssd i have a old laptop on which i test all this distro never had a heating issue on it

7. Press windows directly search for settings click enter , press windows directly type file name click enter thats how good workflow fedora has

8. They have option for balanced and power saver mode

Cons:

1. You need to be an intermediate in linux

2. Installing popular softwares such as vlc and non free requires there rpm fusion repo
All the cons are regarding installtion and how skilled you are but its very stable and easy on you system distro using it since 8-9 months never had any issue
